THE CHALLENGE
Providing training to individuals before their first visit to a wind farm is essential. The client’s main objective was to enhance the efficiency of the training process by optimizing procedures and, simultaneously, reducing associated costs and assuring the safety of the employees.
This type of instruction, specifically tailored to wind turbine maintenance, directly impacts production. Since it involves stopping the turbine for training purposes, it creates a disruption in production. Furthermore, the nature of this training exposes participants to potential risks inherent in the working environment of a wind farm. Therefore, it was crucial to strike a balance between the effectiveness of the training and minimizing disruptions in production without compromising the safety of the personnel.
THE SOLUTION
We developed a guided training program for the discharge operation (shutting down and eliminating any remaining electrical current) with a strong emphasis on safety and user experience. This training covers topics such as the knowledge of necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the so-called five golden rules, and the various safety anchors and harnesses required for the operation. The immersive experience includes sensations of vertigo and height, serving as preparation for real-world scenarios.
This immersive training not only enhances learning outcomes but also contributes to significant cost efficiencies.
